Alsace & Champagne
Vendage tardive
In rare years the grapes are left on the vines longer, until after the first frosts. This gives them higher natural sugar levels. Once fermentation has occurred, some of this natural sweetness remains - not a dessert wine as such, just richer, more concentrated and luscious. Only limited quantities of this "late harvest" wine are produced.
